LOOSvanVLIET developed the urban plan and the outdoor space plan of the centre of Den Burg on the island of Texel. The construction works on the Groeneplaats and the Vismarkt are in full swing. Soon, the construction of De Wezentuin park, which borders on these town squares, will also begin. The starting point for the design was to create a timeless layout and to recreate a clear separation between the Groeneplaats and the Vismarkt by placing new buildings on the site of the former 'Raaksje' (town hall). To reinforce the different characters of the squares, one large maple tree will be added to the Groeneplaats and three small hawthorns to the Vismarkt. Referring to the traditional sheep market on the Groeneplaats, the paving of the square will be decorated with three types of brass sheep feet that form a path to the large maple tree.
